Paintings

Yesterday while Vito was downstairs demolishing the bathroom I found a cigar box in the basement and decided to paint instead of help. I did start to help, I scraped a good 2'x2' square of wallpaper off of the wall. Then I decided it would be more fun to paint.

Also while I was down there I found a little Ziploc bag full of 1" square blocks that I stayed up late painting on. In the picture they look quite large, but they actually all fit on a piece of paper. They are so small that it was hard to get a good picture, I think they would look good in a shadow box of some sort.

Extra scraps from sewing pillows..??...

Sew it on a shirt.

Everyone wants to wear shirt art.

Now I'm a walking art display.

Cassius liked the idea so much he passed out on the floor, dropped dead with amazement.

Get the Christmas lights....

our lettuce looks like a tree!

Merry Christmas in JULY!

I sawed down the tree of lettuce today so we can have a delicious dinner with some friends. Cristi and Joe are coming over so I figured it would be the perfect time to sacrifice one of the heads. I don't think this is normal for it to look so strange, it's about 3 feet tall... all the other heads of lettuce look normal. Watch it actually not be lettuce at all, some kind of weed we eat and die.

Today's fabulous 50% off day Thrift Store finds

It doesn't get much better than this. I realized as I was uploading these photos that I have some crazy attraction to gold, brass and more gold. Every pic looks the same color.

A few months ago I started collecting these old glass goblet glasses in all different colors. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them. I now have a box full of them in the basement. I wanted to start using them as wine glasses and get rid of the "normal" glasses but V said, "no way."

The almost life size monkey is totally going on the mantle. And I have no idea what I'm going to do with these brass beauties. Probably spray paint them or something.

Soup and Sweaters in HOT weather

Vito made yummy Vietnamese Pho last night using the mint and basil from the garden. He bought a smoker a couple weeks ago and has been smoking meat like crazy. He smoked the pork for the pho and it tasted dino-mite!

We went up to Louisville today to see Pete and the Dutch Princess' new baby girl at the hospital. Sofia Chen Meyer. So cute and so tiny, 5lbs. I started knitting a sweater when I found out she was pregnant. I had a hunch it was going to be a boy, so I started the blue cashmere one... then they found out it was a girl.

..so of course I had to make a pink one too. She's going to have to gain some weight to fill out that pink one.

New art.

Here are some new drawings.
I found some contact paper that has a wood grain (do people really use that stuff?) Anyway, I used sharpie, colored pencil, oil pastel and chalk pastel. To draw the lines I taped a marker to the end of a yardstick and stood a good 6 feet back with my arm outstretched s0 when I drew the lines they would be squigly and sporadic. I used to do a lot of big paintings using that self-discovered technique, but never on anything this small. They turned out good though, I think they are about 5"x18."

Green Thumb Update

Well in the last six weeks we've made quite unbelievable progress with the garden. We just came home from spending a week in California visiting friends and everything is still alive. The neighbor girl successfully managed to water the correct way and at the appropriate times.
Can you believe the TOMATOES!? As tall as me.

Each plant has at least half a dozen dandies on it.

Yummity, Yum, Yum!

Now this massive ball of deliciousness is the biggest

and baddest head of lettuce I have every laid eyes on in my life.

It is seriously the size of a beach ball.

This dreamy pepper is only the size of my pinkie but it's off to a great start.

And of course I have to put a picture of Cash on here,

we took him to the dog park today and apparently

he has quite the fondness for sunscreen.

He was licking me so much on the way there that I had to document.

I'm not sure if this picture is cute or absolutely

disgusting. I'm leaning towards cute. Adorable

actually.

Bye Bye Ketchup and Mustard

Finally! We got the house painted. I thought I'd put some before and after pics on here, now my fam can see. It looks so much better.

Barfy before.

For some reason the blue looks really really bright in these pics. In real life it looks a bit more gray and not so bright bright.

Mary Mary quite contrary....

how does your garden grow?

We finished transplanting our jiffy pots to the great outdoors this last weekend, so far so good.

This will be our first ever garden attempt and most of it we successfully started from seed.

We will have to have an end of the summer harvest party or something to celebrate.

Tomatoes, Lettuce, White and Red Onion, Basil,

Jalapenos, Green Peppers, ... hopefully at least a couple of those will produce something edible.

Cassius (statue dog) wasn't very helpful,
definetly more interested in watching us work and relaxing under a shady tree.
