It's HOT ouTSiDe.

We went on a little camping trip to the mountains last week. I can't remember the name of where we went so I just wont tell you... but we did find this super cute little coffee stand in this tiny tiny town on our way back down the mountain.
Deb is working at a different school this year so it was nice having her come along.

Vito built me a couple of frames for new canvases. I got a couple more commissions I'm working on, but now that schools starting I have a feeling it's going to take a bit to get them finished.

He also built me THIS...
A headboard! It's about 6 feet tall and soooooo cool. It has a really nice stainless frame that he attached the panels to but it's hard to see with this photo.

I've been busy getting my classroom ready for when the kids come back to school next week. Only 3 days.. eek!

LasT WeeK**

This is my last full week of summer vacation before going back to work.
I'm going to cry.
I don't want to go.
so..I treated myself to a cute cute pair of back to school shoes. They have a tiny little stub of a heel and are my only pair of GREEN shoes. woo hoo.
'True Love' on Broadway has such cute and colorful shoes. Every time I go in there I start drooling all over the place.

Saturday, Jess and Matt Stevens went to the RocKiEs game with us, we had dynamite seats.

It was my first Rockies game all year.
HoT DoGs and BeER.
PeaNuts.
More BeeR.

Tomorrow I'm catching up with a couple of friends i haven't seen all summer.
I'm squeezing in as much as I can during the days while I have the time.

A feW thiNgS**

I still haven't hung the little painting Vito bought me while we were in California. Joe Stein is the artist. Most of his paintings were on wood blocks and very illustrative. Except this one.
And I love it.

And look who is back in town, seems like they have been gone for ages!

...and my hair is darker!

off to work in the yaRD before it gets hot out.

I've been having so so much fun with it. Thank you so much for being so encouraging!I've met some really great artists from Etsyland and did a super cool art swap with a fantastic local artist. KYLE from denvercraft.com. I've also gotten a few new commissions from posting my stuff online. yay! I only have two weeks until I go back to work.
It makes me want to cry just thinking of my summer being over. :(
I will be squeezing in a lot of relaxing to really enjoy every last moment of free time.

I got a lot of fun things done yesterday. I like it when I can check things off my to-do list at my own pace and actually enjoy it while I'm in the middle of it. I didn't feel rushed or pressed to do them quickly. However, I do have a (not finished) commission that is going to be picked up tomorrow that I just can't seem to finish. I've been working on it hours everyday and I just can't seem to get it right. That's probably why I keep busying myself.
"I need to paint!" but instead I bake pies, stain the new fence, organize CD's (yes, we still have CD's), clean the kitchen... so today will be PAINT day. For real this time!
but doesn't this pie look delicious! ..mmm..

Happy Thursday.

PainTiNG**

I finished this little (big) painting for Vito yesterday and delivered it to his office. I didn't get to hang it because I couldn't find a hammer.
I tried using all sorts of interesting things trying to get that nail into the wall..
-the bottom of a glade glass candle jar (bad idea)
-this weird rock that Vito had on his bookshelf that started crumbling as soon as I started pounding.
-the heel of my dansko
I gave up.

Oh! and you should have seen me trying to get this thing in my tiny car.
Once I finally did Crisco it in, it took me ages to figure out how to tie down the hatch. Let me tell you, I couldn't find a bungee cord or any sort of string to save my life. So, I used the string from the weed-whacker.
Thank god my airbag didn't go off while I drove down I-25 because I was literally hugging my steering wheel. I've seen pictures of peoples black eyes from their airbag, I can only imagine what my face would have looked like.

GlaD to be HoMe**

We made it home last night from our little Vegas/Cali adventure.
Quick recap...
For some reason I have more pictures of art and textile designs from our room and cabana than any other person or object from the entire trip. Here's a few..

We stayed in this fantastic 2 bedroom suite that was about the size an apartment. It had five (yes I said five)flat screen t.v.'s.
To go from having one (no cable, boring, never turned on) t.v. at home, this was quite stimulating. Especially when I turned the corner to our bathroom and saw one mounted in the mirror. I didn't know whether I should run away and hide or move in and never ever leave our suite.
Oh! and look.. another TV IN the cabana. Seriously, is this necessary?

We had a nice drive to Cali on the 4th. From Dave and Dawn's house we could see two super nice firework shows. On Friday we hung with Heather and Ali walking about in Santa Ana for the first Friday art show. Vito bought me a wonderful little piece of artwork from this super talented artist we visited, as soon as I hang it I will snap a pic.

And this little dandy I snapped for a little certain someone...
The Vegas public transportation, best double decker ever!
THE DEUCE! The thing was massive and I only got one shot snapped before feeling like I was going to get plowed over.
You should make some stationary or business cards out of this Duce.
